From day one, 14 years ago, we’ve believed you should never have to choose between joy and gentle care in your routine. Crystal’s expertise as a Master Esthetician guides every formula we make, using skin‑friendly ingredients you can trust. Our coconut-derived bubbles and phthalate-free fragrances mean you can sink into relaxation knowing it’s only the best for your skin here.

In a world full of cheap ingredients and minimalist ideals, we’ve consciously built a business for the people who care about what they put on their skin (and its impact on the environment) while indulging in the maximalist fun of cheeky scents and bright, joyful products. 

Crystal Wellman - Founder + Master Esthetician + Traveler

Crystal Wellman is a trained Master Esthetician so taking care of the skin is her greatest passion! Crystal formulates most of our products by hand selecting every ingredient used and carefully choosing those that are gentle and safe for the skin, for the environment and for your family.  

How did Sugar + Spruce come to fruition? "Morgan and I attended a soap making class in Northern Virginia, so I started making soaps and lotions for myself and my many skincare clients. The response was overwhelming and I saw an opportunity to provide Fredericksburg, and the region, with quality, healthy, carefully formulated personal care products."

Crystal's favorite weekend activities - "This year has been an exploration into food and culture for me. Traveling and learning about different cultures and their relationship to food has made me take a deeper look a how I shop and prepare foods. 

Favorite things to do - "Heirloom gardening is the best! I love to use fragrant organic flower blossoms to make tinctures and glycerites for personal products as well as all natural perfumes. I have several heirloom rose gardens on my hobby farm so naturally Spring is my favorite time of the year. Recently, I started collecting vintage perfume bottles and taking photography lessons."

Crystal is from Hawaii so it's only natural that she loves everything about nature and natural skincare.

Morgan’s favorite things to do when not working - "I'm constantly on the go, so when I have free time, I really like to relax. Most of the time you can find me hanging out with my fiancé or cuddling with my kitty Sasha reading a good book or binging a new tv show!"

Morgan’s Hobbies - "I am very much ADHD so I am the kind of person who loves to try all sorts of things. Baking will always be a passion of mine as someone who has a raging sweet tooth."
